All about Turned

My name is Peter Natale and Turned is my passion.

I have worked with wood all my life as a hobby, and most of it was panel work - furniture, constructions around the home and the like. Wood always was a calming material to work with (except when it gets to sanding time), but really there is only so much furniture you can build for your house.

About 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Friedriech Ataxia, and many of my hobbies became harder or dangerous - cricket, motorcycling, guitar - they all stopped. I needed something that blended woodworking, that I missed, with something that let me work from a stable position - Wood Turning.

What I love most about turning is that you are just finding something beautiful. Yes you make furniture to look good, but it also has to be straight, square, strong, functional - all things that divert the attention away from just finding the art work hidden in the wood.

As a busy professional in the daytime, a husband, a dad, a few hours at the lathe just feeling shaving pile up at your feet is therapeutic, and now I get to share it with you!

Turned is about turning wood into art, but also turning a disability into a positive.
