Sometimes you just know what you want, you have an idea in your head for something special that is uniquely you……
Our custom service is more than just an end product, its a journey we take together to make you a beautiful piece that reflects your ideas and captures a design or a memory that you can proudly display.
From design, to watching the build process, to final delivery - you are involved all the way. Choosing the timber, or using a special piece of timber that comes from your property. Perhaps embedding a treasured memory item, or reflecting a shape or design that has a special meaning to you. Or maybe its just something you always wanted!
There is a 3 stage process we work through to ensure you get something you can proudly display, and every piece includes a custom engraved stainless steel serial number and logo under the base that confirms you have a Turned custom original.
Step 1 - Design
The custom journey starts with a video call where we can work together to capture the design you want.
What are the design inspirations? I want to start by knowing the story behind your idea.
We can understand the wood you wood like to use, perhaps a piece from your property or you would like a certain type of timber. I can recommend various types of timber if you prefer, and identify what timbers are available and what turns well.
What style of item did you have in mind? Are there any special items features you would like? What size? Is it just one? or a set? Was there a particular finish you would like?
How much artistic freedom do you want me to take? Do you want to be specific or leave it to me?
Its all up to you - as long as the timber allows it and it fits in my workshop!
At the end of the design I will present you with a quote including all costs and a design brief, and then you can decide to proceed.
Step 2 - Create
This is where your design comes to life
The process of creating you work of art now begins - either using timber you provide or timber that I source for you.
The whole process will be captured on video for you so that you can share the experience of your idea emerging.
We will remain in contact during this stage to let you know where it is up to - getting the blank, roughing, drying, shaping or finishing - and to work through any issues or design changes required.
Step 3 - Deliver
The part you have been waiting for…
You item will arrive in its own custom made box to ensure it is well protected in transit, and now you get to open it to see how you ideas and my style have come together to make an item that is truly yours.
Included in the box will be detailed instructions for how to care for your piece, and all custom items come with lifetime contact for guidance on any concerns you have as the timber ages.
